Omron Aneroid Sphygmomanometer Review:

The Omron Aneroid Sphygmomanometer is a professional blood pressure monitor that comes with everything needed to begin taking blood pressure readings.

The good quality nylon cuff fits comfortably around the arm if the correct size is purchased, and the deluxe air-release valve is very durable. Furthermore, the zippered carry case ensures effortless storage and transportation.

An instruction manual is the only thing lacking in the Omron Aneroid Sphygmomanometer package. Due to the fact that this blood pressure monitor is part of Omron’s professional range, it appears that they have not taken into account the numerous people who do not work in the medical field and thus many not know how to assemble and use this device at home.

What Features Does it Have?

  • Easy to read, No-stop pin 300mmHg manometer gauge
  • Deluxe air-release valve
  • Artery marker placement
  • Lifetime calibration warranty
  • A variety of cuff sizes, from pediatric to large adult
  • Durable nylon cuff

The Omron Aneroid Sphygmomanometer blood pressure monitor is of a particularly high quality as it has been manufactured with medical professionals in mind. Reliable and accurate, this device will make a great asset to a busy clinic, hospital or a doctor’s practice. Alternatively, you can learn to take blood pressure measurements using the Sphygmomanometer and achieve the same physician-approved accuracy from the comfort of your own home.

The pressure gauge is very easy to read and can be placed on top of a table or counter for an improved viewing position when taking your own blood pressure measurement. An artery marker placement ensures that you are able to place the cuff correctly on your arm.

A variety of different cuff sizes can be purchased to ensure optimum accuracy. Omron has even manufactured a pediatric cuff size for infants. These are all well-made and will sustain repeated use.

We are somewhat disappointed that Omron has not chosen to include a stethoscope with this device, as this is a prerequisite for taking accurate manual readings. A stethoscope should be purchased separately if you want to get maximum usability out of your Sphygmomanometer.

Another point to consider is the latext inflation system incorporated in this Omron unit. If you are allergic to latex, you can arrange to purchase a Sphygmomanometer with a non-latex inflation system.

Is the Price Right?

  • Yes

The Omron Aneroid Sphygmomanometer usually retails for approximately $50.00, but you can purchase it here for only $40.00 and receive physician-approved quality at an affordable price.

Does it Come With a Warranty?

  • Yes

A great feature of the Omron Aneroid Sphygmomanometer is that it comes with a lifetime calibration warranty +/- 3 mmHg. If you ever notice that the gauge’s needle is not calibrated, you will receive strong customer support from Omron.

Who Manufactures it?

  • Omron Healthcare

Omron is a global company that has a long legacy of developing state of the art technology. Its range of healthcare products is used around the world. Omron encourages proactive health management at home, and their line of accurate and durable blood pressure monitors is testament to this fact. Omron’s strong customer support ensures that their clients remain satisfied.

How Does it Work?

This is where the Omron Aneroid Sphygmomanometer loses some points. It may be a high quality and accurate device, but if you do not know how to use it then there is no point in purchasing it. An instruction manual is lacking in this regard.

To measure blood pressure with a sphygmomanometer, you need to place the cuff on your upper left arm, inflate it manually to 200mmHg and then gradually release the air while palpating the radial pulse. Wait for a minute and then reinflate the cuff to 30mmHG higher than the pressure point at which the radial pulse could no longer be palpated. A stethoscope should then be lightly positioned over the brachial artery and the cuff slowly deflated. You can read systolic pressure from the time that you hear ‘lub’ and ‘dub’ sounds through the stethoscope. Diastolic pressure can be measured from the time that you cease to hear these sounds through the stethoscope.

Does Omron Deliver on its Promises?

  • Yes

We really like this device, because it is everything that Omron claims – durable and reliable. If used correctly, the Aneroid Sphygmomanometer will deliver the highest levels of accuracy. Furthermore, the lifetime calibration warranty will ensure that you are entirely satisfied with your purchase.

Rating: 68/100

Our Verdict: The Omron Aneroid Sphygmomanometer is a professional blood pressure monitor that provides accurate readings. It is a great health aid for those looking for good, old-fashioned quality. The only drawback is that it doesn’t come with an instruction manual or a stethoscope, which could prove to be a bit troublesome for those who are not used to taking manual blood pressure readings.
